first_imgPunter found hiding in bushes Two lanes of the M6 in Cheshire are blocked due to a police incident. Officers from the North West Motorway Police have shut the lanes between junction 19, Knutsford, and junction 18, Middlewich , while they deal with the incident. The exact cause of the blockage has not been been revealed. A motorway police spokesman said: “M6 southbound between j19 to j18 – lanes one and two are blocked due to a police incident. Traffic was briefly held between 07:15 and 07:20.06:37Highways England statement The M6 currently has delays of at least 45 minutes from J19 to J18, covering approximately 6.5 miles of the southbound carriageway. The delays are due to a road traffic collision with lanes one and two (of four) closed and Highways England has resources deployed working hard to restore normal conditions as soon as possible.For traffic approach the delays locally, you are advised to expect disruption with extra journey time and you may with to re-route or delay your journey.If travelling towards this area from much further afield, you may with to change your strategic route, allow extra travel time and follow guidance from our on-road variable message signs.
